The CS-P providers group met today headed by GT at Code.org. There were 11
people on the call, we divided up into groups to talk and came up with some
agenda items to talk about at CSTA in person.
Of interest:
1. What is a reasonable timeline for updates? Suggested: All curriculum
changes for the next year done by February at the latest. After that make
updates to PD and support materials. Keep a beta, current, and deprecated
version of curriculum available.
2. Numerous discussions on whether block programming is a "training
wheel" for "real" programming or stands on its own. David W's work was
referenced and many are waiting to read his study on the blocks vs text
pseudocode study.
3. Differences in style: sage on the stage vs. guide on the side, what
is wanted/needed for CS-P, how are curricula different?
4. Platforms used and wanted to deliver content. So many different LMS,
SIS, content delivery systems to integrate with. To be discussed more.
