The School of Electronics and Computer Science is seeking to appoint a candidate to complement the existing research programme in the Intelligence, Agents, Multimedia (IAM) Research Group. The School is the largest of its kind in the UK and in the last Research Assessment Exercise (in 2008) Computer Science was ranked joint second in the UK for the quality of its research, with 85 per cent of its research work receiving either the top 4* rating (defined as 'world leading') or the 3* rating ('internationally excellent').
We encourage applications from candidates who have an excellent research track record in any of the Group's research areas. These include: agent-based computing, digital libraries, decentralised information systems, eBusiness technologies, grid and distributed computing, human computer interaction, web science, knowledge technologies, multimedia, pervasive computing and networks, and trust and provenance. We are especially interested in individuals who have researched into the foundational theories of these areas, as well as their application.
Applicants should have a PhD, an excellent publication record, and the enthusiasm and drive to carry out research and teaching in an exciting, highly professional, multidisciplinary environment.
