[Csmatters] Code.org Advocacy Coalition Summary

Here are notes from today's Code.org advocacy coalition call


   1. The deadline is Aug 3 to sign up for the free state advocacy
   conference Sept 27-28 in Denver. (we have to pay travel/lodging)
      -

      apply at advocacy.code.org/state-policy-forum
      2. *House LHHS-Education FY 2019 bill*
   1. *puts $20M into CTE*
      2. does call out STEM and CS for EIR and Title IV
      3. includes special money for rural
   3. More states: PA put aside $20M for STEM+CS, IA & CT adopted CSTA
   standards, HI requires HS to offer CS by 2021 and has funding.
   4. GA did a grant for middle schools to do CS $500k for 17 school
   districts

   5. There are 17 governors in governors for cs now.
