Mike,

Can I share this email with Pat Yongpradit of code.org? It highlights perfectly the confusion districts are experiencing with the "new" choices offered for the CS pathway. We are trying to gather evidence that MSDE's communication is misleading districts to think that PLTW is the only option when it's not. Pat will be meeting with state officials to help clear this up and we are all working together to outline options for districts that focus on free, quality materials.

Since we have a new supervisor coming in this is my chance to convince him/her we should keep our local track and not adopt the PLTW one. Want to make sure I'm informed before I state my case. I would pose these questions directly to MSDE, however, I believe they will re-direct me to our local supervisor as has happened in the past.

My previous supervisor said that: MSDE is dropping this course and will only support the PLTW CS track; only the PLTW CS track would receive Perkins funding; MSDE would not support/approve a locally developed 4th class in lieu of CyberWatch for a local pathway.
