TWO POSTDOC POSITIONS in AGENT-BASED MODELLING
Department of Computer Science, University of Oxford
Full time, fixed-term, to start ASAP until 31 August 2026
https://www.cs.ox.ac.uk/news/2150-full.html
The Department of Computer Science seeks to employ two postdoctoral
researchers to work on a project in the area of agent-based
modelling/multi-agent systems, under the direction of PI Professor
Michael Wooldridge. The posts are full-time, fixed term positions,
tenable immediately, and will be available until the end of September
2026 subject to satisfactory review. The positions will be based
within the Department’s offices in central Oxford.
The successful candidates will work with Professor Wooldridge and
Professors Ani Calinescu and Doyne Farmer on one or more of the
following four areas: modelling languages for agent-based models (with
particular interest in probabilistic programming); populating
agent-based models with realistic agent behaviours (e.g., using
machine learning techniques); calibrating large-scale agent-based
models; and the validation and verification of agent-based models
(e.g., using techniques from game theoretic model
checking/synthesis). Candidates will be expected to have a PhD (or be
close to completion) in a related area and should indicate their
special area(s) of interest from the four topics above in a cover
letter. The primary selection criteria will be relevant research
experience and publication track record. Both posts are offered at
Grade 7; we would be willing to consider a Grade 6 appointment for
less experienced candidates for up to one post – this would be
discussed with applicants at interview/appointment where appropriate.
losing date for applications:
**12 noon on Monday, 24th April 2023.**
Interviews are expected to be held in late April or in early May.
Our staff and students come from all over the world and we proudly
promote a friendly and inclusive culture. Diversity is positively
encouraged, through diversity groups and champions, as well as a
number of family-friendly policies, such as the right to apply for
flexible working and support for staff returning from periods of
extended absence, for example shared parental leave.
Demonstrating a commitment to provide equality of opportunity. We
would particularly welcome applications from women and black and
minority ethnic applicants who are currently under-represented within
the Computer Science Department. All applicants will be judged on
merit, according to the selection criteria.
The posts are offered at Grade 7 (Salaries in the range of £35,308 -
£43,155 per annum with an under-fill option at Grade 6: Salaries in
the range of £31,502 - £37,386 p.a.)
