A (postdoctoral) Senior Research Associate position is available at the School
of Computing and Communications of Lancaster University to undertake
exciting and ambitious research in the area of engineering decentralized
sociotechnical systems. The position is linked to a five-year EPSRC-funded
project.
This project involves the following broad themes of research.
- Interaction protocols: Languages, methodologies, and tools for specifying
and enacting interaction protocols between autonomous parties.
- Norms: Languages, methodologies, and tools for specifying, enacting, and
monitoring norms, e.g., commitments between parties.
- Technology: Applying the foregoing in current technical themes such as
IoT, cybersecurity, and blockchain.
- Applications: Applying the science in vital areas such as digital
manufacturing, healthcare, and smart cities.
The candidate will also be expected to write and submit high-quality
research papers on the foregoing themes, disseminate research results by
giving talks and tutorials at conferences and other institutions, assist
with preparing grant proposals, and undertake other research activities as
needed.
A PhD or equivalent degree in computer science or a closely-related field
is required to be eligible for this position. The ideal applicant will have
a track record of high-quality publications in areas of relevance to the
project and the willingness to undertake ambitious and challenging
research.
The position will be under the supervision of Dr Amit Chopra, who is a
senior lecturer in the School. Applicants are encouraged to take a look at
