ISAmI 2012 :: FINAL CALL FOR PAPERS :: 17th November, 2011
--------------------------------------------------------------

3rd International Symposium on Ambient Intelligence - Software and
Applications
28th-30th March, 2012 :: Salamanca, Spain
http://isami.usal.es

--------------------------------------------------------------
Ambient Intelligence (AmI) is a recent paradigm emerging from Artificial
Intelligence (AI), where computers are used as proactive tools assisting
people with their day-to-day activities, making everyone's life more
comfortable.
Another main concern of AmI originates from the human computer interaction
domain and focuses on offering ways to interact with systems in a more
natural way by means user friendly interfaces. This field is evolving
quickly as can be witnessed by the emerging natural language and gesture
based types of interaction.
The inclusion of computational power and communication technologies in
everyday objects is growing and their embedding into our environments should
be as invisible as possible. In order for AmI to be successful, human
interaction with computing power and embedded systems in the surroundings
should be smooth and happen without people actually noticing it. The only
awareness people should have arises from AmI: more safety, comfort and
wellbeing, emerging in a natural and inherent way.
ISAmI is the International Symposium on Ambient Intelligence, aiming to
bring together researchers from various disciplines that constitute the
scientific field of Ambient Intelligence to present and discuss the latest
results, new ideas, projects and lessons learned.
Brand new ideas will be greatly appreciated as well as relevant revisions
and actualizations of previously presented work, project summaries and PhD
thesis.

ISAmI 2012 will be held at the University of Salamanca, Spain. This
symposium will be organized by the Biomedicine, Intelligent System and
Educational Technology Research Group (http://bisite.usal.es/) of the
University of Salamanca.

Eindhoven, The Netherlands

Title: From smart home technology towards ambient assisted living - lessons
learnt

--------------------------------------------------------------
CONTRIBUTIONS
--------------------------------------------------------------
As in the previous edition, the goals of ISAmI are:
- to create the appropriate conditions for researchers to disseminate their
research work;
- to strengthen the relationships among the AmI research groups;
- to facilitate the contact between new researchers and consolidated groups;
- to help the diffusion of new developments to the community.

In order to fulfill these objectives, submissions of substantial, original
and previously unpublished work are invited in all areas of Ambient
Intelligence. The papers can be presented from a formal, methodological,
technical or applied point of view focus, namely, in AmI Software and
Applications.

The topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
- Applications
- Ambient Assisted Living
- Ubiquitous Computing
- Artificial Intelligence for AmI
- Distributed Computing
- Domotics (Home Automation)
- Pervasive Computing
- Context Aware Computing
- Agent & Multiagent Systems for AmI
- Mobile Computing
- Robotics
- Computational Creativity
- Sentient Computing
- e-Health
- Context Modelling
- e-Learning
- Memory Assistant

SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS
--------------------------------------------------------------
We are looking forward to receiving contributions from anyone interested in
participating and presenting their work at this symposium. We are accepting
two types of submissions:
1. Regular Paper. It must consist of original, relevant and previously
unpublished sound research results related to any of the topics of the
conference. It may be accepted as a Long paper, a Short paper or a Poster.
2. Doctoral Paper. PhD students are invited to present the topic and
progress of their research in order to obtain feedback from a panel of
experts.

Papers should be written in English, with a maximum of 8 (eight) pages.

--------------------------------------------------------------
PAPERS FORMAT
--------------------------------------------------------------
Papers must be prepared according to Springer?s templates (MS Word orLaTeX
format) for the Advances in Intelligent and Soft Computing volume series
(www.springer.com/series/4240).

--------------------------------------------------------------
SUBMITTING PAPERS
--------------------------------------------------------------
In order to submit a paper, authors must register at the ISAmI 2012
conference management system (http://isami.usal.es).
All papers must be submitted in electronic format (PDF format, word document
or latex and images).

--------------------------------------------------------------
IMPORTANT DATES
--------------------------------------------------------------
Final Paper submission deadline: 17th November, 2011

Notification of acceptance: 15th December, 2011
Final version submission: 9th January, 2012
ISAmI 2011 Conference: 28th - 30th April, 2012
--------------------------------------------------------------
PUBLICATION
--------------------------------------------------------------
All accepted papers will be published in a special volume of Advances in
Intelligent and Soft Computing (Springer), indexed by ISI Proceedings, DBLP
and Springerlink, among others.
For each paper, at least one author is required to register and attend the
symposium to present the paper, so as to have it included in the symposium
proceedings.

A Thematic Issue in JAISE - the Journal of Ambient Intelligence and Smart
Environments (IOS Press) will be edited (JCR Impact Factor: 1.5).
