Subject: Re: Electrical Repairs in Engineering Building

Greetings everyone!
I am letting you know about the timing of the electrical switch box repair,
as we've just received an update.

On Sunday, March 19, the Engineering Building will be removed from the
electrical grid and placed on backup generator power. The building will be
without power for approximately one hour until the generator power is
switched on. From that point until April 1, the building will run on
generator power. On April 1, the building will be without power for one
hour as the electricity is transitioned back to the grid from the generator.

It is critical you power down your equipment on or before March 17 (before
you leave for the weekend) to prevent equipment damage. Power surges could
cause damage to sensitive equipment.

Please review the below email for additional information.

Thank you,
Michael

       Greetings!

The Engineering Building will undergo critical, mandatory
repairs to its electrical systems beginning January 9,
2023. These repairs will last between 10 and 15 days.
During this timeframe, there are two days when the
building will be without power for eight (8) hours at a
time; January 9 and after the repairs are completed
(TBD). On January 9, the power will be turned off to the
building and transitioned to a generator (tentatively 6 AM
       to 2 PM).

From January 10 to the repair?s completion, the building
will have full power provided by a generator. After the
repair is complete, the building will be taken off
generator power and put back on the grid, which will cause
another day when the building will be without power (TBD,
       roughly 1/20).

**Any circuits backed up by the ITE generator will
experience a momentary blip in power when the grid is cut
off but will return to the backup power after about 5-10
seconds. Those on the ITE generator should know who they
are, but if you need clarification regarding whether or
not your circuits are, please don?t hesitate to reach out to
       Victor Fulda or me.**

Again, this is a critical and mandatory repair to the
building. If you have equipment in the building, please
make sure it is powered down PRIOR to January 9 to avoid
any damage. Please also take note of any research you are
conducting over the break that may conflict with these
dates where the building will be without power and
       rearrange schedules wherever necessary/possible.

DoIT is developing a plan to manage the power outage's
impact on IT services and will post an announcement as it
       gets more information from Facilities.

We will communicate any updates we share from facilities
management as soon as we have receive them. Another
message will be sent out closer to January 9 as a
reminder, but we wanted to get you this information ASAP
       for your planning purposes.

NOTE: Contractors will be unloading their equipment near the
engineering loading dock - people should exercise caution when
passing by.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Michael
