Greetings!
Victor sent a reminder to the Engineering Building occupants already.  But,
just in case some folks were not included on that list, I'm sending this to
all COEIT faculty/staff.  **Reminder, a power outage will occur tomorrow
from 6 AM to 7 AM.  Victor is working with labs to make sure no damage is
caused.  If you have a computer in the building, power it off before leaving
today OR take it home.

however, we are just finding out that did not take place.  They have
instead moved the outage to next Thursday at 6 AM.  Victor will be
working with lab managers to ensure measures are taken to prevent work
loss.  This will not be a power outage with many blips in power; our
understanding is that the power will go off and come back on once the
work is complete.  However, I would recommend to anyone in the
building you take home your laptops and/or power off your devices in
the building, not on a UPS, to prevent data loss or hardware damage.
Any labs in the building should work with their staff to ensure
research does not go lost or impacted.

This notice contains information that may be of importance to the
occupants of the Engineering building. Not all building occupants
receive these notices so please pass the information along to your
co-workers.  Building occupants wishing to receive these building
notices may reply to this email and request to be added to the group
e-mail for this building. 

Engineering building occupants,

UMBC is currently undertaking multiple utility improvements on campus.
In order to upgrade the electrical equipment serving buildings in the
academic core, outages will be required to the building?s electrical
service.

To minimize impact, these outages will begin early in the morning and
be completed before 7 AM. The outages will occur during the following
times:

1.    Thursday, April 28th, 2022, 6 AM ? 7 AM

The building, except for emergency equipment, will be without power
during the above times. The building will be closed to all occupants,
except construction personnel, during this time. Signs will be posted
at entrances to further alert occupants of the outage and building
closure.

Thank you for your patience as we work to maintain and enhance the
UMBC campus.
