    <p>Dear all,</p>

    <p>The Department of Computing science at Umeå University  is

      offering a postdoctoral scholarship within the project “<b><i>Understanding

          and designing Block Copolymers using AI</i>”</b>. The

      scholarship is full-time for two years with access 1 September,

      2024 or by agreement. <br>

    </p>

    <p>This project aims to use Artificial intelligence for

      understanding, designing, and optimizing Block Copolymers (BCPs)

      and their self-assembly. A hybrid intelligence system will be

      designed and developed during a multi-disciplinary collaboration.

      This system will combine two parts. First, a knowledge-based

      inference system that encodes existing knowledge using a

      domain-specific ontology and fuzzy logic-based rules. In short,

      this fuzzy knowledge-based system will express the known

      relationships between the chemical structure of polymers and their

      corresponding properties. Second, we will combine this

      knowledge-based system with a data-driven model. This model will

      be extracted from experimental data using state-of-the art machine

      learning techniques.<br>

    </p>

    <p>Documented knowledge and proven research experiences in at least

      one of the following areas:</p>

    <ul>

      <li>approximate reasoning, </li>

      <li>logic-based methods, </li>

      <li>knowledge modeling, </li>

      <li>fuzzy sets and systems, </li>

      <li>probabilistic answer set programming, or </li>

      <li>uncertain ontologies, is required.</li>

    </ul>

      The scholarship project are financed by the Kempe foundation. The

      scholarship is for two years with a starting date as agreed. The

      scholarship amounts to 350.000 SEK per year. The scholarship is

      not subject to tax.</p>
