Important new Dates (2nd submission window):

November 8th: Abstract submission deadline

December 6th: Notification of acceptance

The 2021 Enterprise Engineering Working Conference (EEWC 2021) will be the 11th working conference addressing the field of Enterprise Engineering. It will be a special conference, as the CIAO! network, the EE-Network.eu, and the EE Institute will join forces to become an integrated network, concerned with the development of theory-based and practice-proven methods, techniques, and tools for enterprise engineering.

The new network will provide a platform to further strengthen our activities, such as:

academic events, and the EEWC working conference in particular,

the development of an EE body of knowledge,

joint research projects,

outreach events such as EE Insights,

a doctoral consortium and joint PhD training and supervision,

courses and certification for practitioners.

The formal kick-off of the new network will take place during this year's EEWC.

Due to Covid-19 and related travel restrictions, it has been decided that EEWC 2021 will take place, as in 2020, in an on-line format.

Nevertheless, the goal remains to gather academics and practitioners in order to share innovative research issues and practical experiences, balancing rigour and relevance, as well as to facilitate profound discussions on the discipline of enterprise engineering. Furthermore, as in earlier years, the proceedings of EEWC 2021 will be published as post-conference proceedings in Springer's Lecture Notes in Business Information Processing (LNBIP). The use of post-conference proceedings enables the authors to update their submissions based on the feedback from reviewers, as well as the discussions during the conference, which truly underlines the working conference character of EEWC.

In maintaining the online format, we will take this opportunity to keep our EEWC conference in a community-driven working event.

More specifically, the plan is to have each paper go through the following process:

Each submitted paper (via EasyChair) will be reviewed by three reviewers. The reviewers will be asked if the current version of the paper is good enough to be presented at the discussion sessions.

With sufficient time before conference paper presentation/discussion rounds, PC-chairs will, based on reviews, make a selection of papers that are to be presented. Some of these papers will already obtain confirmation of publication in Springer proceedings, some will be conditionally accepted and, after the conference, might be accepted.

The authors will then have the option to provide an updated version of their papers to be presented at the online conference. In addition, they will be requested to provide a 15 minute pre-recorded video with a presentation as a fallback solution in case the online presentation fails due to bandwidth problems. These should be provided before the actual conference presentations will take place, according to the dates below.

Close to the conference days, the community will be able to read the updated version of the paper watch the pre-recorded video and initiate discussions on an online forum.

During the actual conference days, video-meetings will be organised in which the papers (and presentations) will be discussed in more detail.

After the conference, authors are required to submit an updated version of their paper taking into account the discussions and chairs' feedback. The latter will be re-assessed by the chairs and, eventually, by some reviewers. Based on this, the final selection of papers to be included in the post-proceedings will be made.

The above structure also allows us to be rather flexible in terms of submission deadlines as per the dates specified below.

Proceedings

The proceedings of the working conference will, as always, be published in Springer's Lecture Notes in Business Information Processing (LNBIP).

As in the previous years, the EEWC working conference will use post-conference proceedings. This enables the authors to update their submissions based on the feedback from reviewers, as well as the discussions during the working conference. Additionally, it provides us with more flexibility regarding the submission and reviewing process.
