<span style="font-family:"Courier New"">New waves of networked applications continue to push the limits

<span style="font-family:"Courier New"">of what is possible with networks today. Augmented Reality and

<span style="font-family:"Courier New"">Tactile Internet require ultra-low latency measured in single-

<span style="font-family:"Courier New"">digit milliseconds. Requirements of Industrial Internet appli-

<span style="font-family:"Courier New"">cations that involve real-time industrial control are even more

<span style="font-family:"Courier New"">stringent and tolerate no jitter at all. Compounding this

<span style="font-family:"Courier New"">situation is the fact that many of those applications are

<span style="font-family:"Courier New"">mission-critical and cannot afford any loss in connectivity or

<span style="font-family:"Courier New"">even single packets. Collectively, these applications require

<span style="font-family:"Courier New"">High-Precision Networks that are characterized by stringent

<span style="font-family:"Courier New"">service level boundaries and associated guarantees that border

<span style="font-family:"Courier New"">on determinism. This requires a rethinking of many of the

<span style="font-family:"Courier New"">principles underlying existing "Best Effort" internetworking

<span style="font-family:"Courier New"">technology.

<span style="font-family:"Courier New"">

<span style="font-family:"Courier New"">Several approaches trying to tackle those challenges are

<span style="font-family:"Courier New"">emerging. Data centers with fixed topologies and a constant

<span style="font-family:"Courier New"">number of hops rapidly replace conventional routing and more

<span style="font-family:"Courier New"">general Internet topologies. Networks are becoming more

<span style="font-family:"Courier New"">programmable to allow to custom-tailor and optimize treatment

<span style="font-family:"Courier New"">of packets and flows. Related technologies range from Service

<span style="font-family:"Courier New"">Function Chaining to Network Slicing to SDN. One overarching

<span style="font-family:"Courier New"">question concerns how these technologies can be harnessed and

<span style="font-family:"Courier New"">what additional approaches are needed to be able to actually

<span style="font-family:"Courier New"">deliver High-Precision Networking. This will involve advances

<span style="font-family:"Courier New"">over a wide range of areas, such as programming and processing

<span style="font-family:"Courier New"">of packets in the data plane, high-precision measurements and

<span style="font-family:"Courier New"">telemetry with nanosecond accuracy at scale, control interfaces

<span style="font-family:"Courier New"">and ultra-low latency control loops to optimize service levels,

<span style="font-family:"Courier New"">as well as advances in the related platforms and algorithms

<span style="font-family:"Courier New"">that allow for their management and control.

<span style="font-family:"Courier New"">

<span style="font-family:"Courier New"">The workshop aims to provide a forum for researchers, students
