Are you interested in investigating the effect of communication between agents in multi-agent reinforcement learning (MARL) by leveraging tools from causality and causal representation learning?

Job offer: The Utrecht University offers a fully paid 4-year PhD position on investigating the causal effects of communication in multi-agent RL. This project is a collaboration between the Intelligent Systems Lab<https://www.uu.nl/en/research/ai-data-science/intelligent-systems> at Utrecht University and the Amsterdam Machine Learning Lab<https://amlab.science.uva.nl/> at University of Amsterdam and will be part of the Hybrid Intelligence Center.<https://www.hybrid-intelligence-centre.nl/> The position falls under the Collective Labour Agreement of Dutch Universities (solid pension scheme, substantial holiday leave, paid sick leave, maternity/paternity leave) with a gross monthly salary between €2,901 and €3,707, 8% holiday pay and 8.3% year-end bonus.

Requirements: Candidates are expected to have a MSc degree (or are near to completing one) in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or related fields.

Context: The PhD student will be part of the Intelligent Systems group at Utrecht University, and will work under the supervision of Shihan Wang <https://www.uu.nl/staff/SWang2> (daily supervisor), Sara Magliacane<https://saramagliacane.github.io/> (co-supervisor) and Mehdi Dastani<https://www.uu.nl/staff/MMDastani> (promotor). The PhD student will also participate in the Hybrid Intelligence Center<https://www.hybrid-intelligence-centre.nl/> project that connects 8 Dutch universities.
