Dear colleagues,
On behalf of the organising committee of the Online Handbook of
Argumentation for AI (OHAAI), we are delighted to announce our
upcoming tutorials
on computational argumentation.
The field of computational argumentation refers to the use of computational
methods and tools to construct, analyse and evaluate arguments in various
fields such as law, politics and healthcare, notably for aiding transparent
and interactive decision-making. Thanks to its logical foundations and
rule-governed mechanisms, argumentation provides the appropriate support
for computational reasoning engines, whereas the dialectical nature of
argumentation and its similarity with common-sense reasoning makes it
easier for users to understand its concepts.
Designed as a half-day session, the tutorials will be highly interactive,
blending traditional lectures with engaging elements such as games and
demonstrations. Our tutorials are targeted at students, researchers, and
practitioners with an interest in human-centered AI. No prior knowledge of
computational argumentation is required.
The tutorials take place in:
-
The Hybrid Human Artificial Intelligence conference (HHAI2024) on
Tuesday 11 June 2024 in Malmö, Sweden.
See https://hhai-conference.org/2024/hhai-summer-school/ for more details
on the summer school and HHAI conference. The registration is open now and
early-bird discounts apply until 6 May. For more details about this
tutorial, see https://ohaai.github.io/tutorial.html.
-
The 27th European Conference on Artificial Intelligence (ECAI2024)
between 19 and 24 October 2024 in Santiago De Compostela, Spain.
Preliminary information can be found at
https://www.ecai2024.eu/programme/tutorials/play-and-persuade-an-interactive-exploration-of-argumentation.
More details will follow closer to the time of the event.
We would kindly ask for academics and PhD supervisors to share this
announcement to any graduate students that might be interested in these
events.
We are looking forward to seeing you there.
Best regards,
Elfia Bezou Vrakatseli and Andreas Xydis
on behalf of the OHAAI committee
OHAAI is a curation of selected peer-reviewed papers summarising (ongoing)
PhD work on Argumentation in AI, published as an annual online Open Access
handbook. OHAAI is designed to serve as a research hub to keep track of the
latest and upcoming PhD-driven research on the theory and application of
argumentation in all areas related to AI.
