Dear multimodal community,
ACM's move to the ACM Open program has implications for the ICMI
Conference, as well as other conferences of SIGCHI. Long story short,
there will be an extra publication fee (on top of the registration
fee) to pay for each paper published in an ACM conference to make it
open access. This fee will be waived for low income countries, and
institutionally (ideally) or personally handled for others, with a
more balanced distribution per institution than the current model.
Also, by January 1, 2026, the entire ACM DL will be accessible to the
entire world.
Please find more information about the model here:
https://medium.com/sigchi/about-acm-open-cd544408559c
If you publish at ACM conferences (not just ICMI), we urge you to
check whether your institution is already listed as participating in
ACM OPEN (link included at the end of the Medium note above), and if
it is not, contact your librarian to be informed about the transition
(and feel free to forward the note above to inform them further).
Warmest regards,
Albert
