Dear colleagues,
I appreciate spreading the word about this position. Thanks.
Post-doc position in Explainable Artificial Intelligence, University of Luxembourg

Funded by the Fonds National de la Recherche Luxembourg in the framework of CHIST-ERA multi-lateral research program, the AI Robolab (a social robot lab at the computer science department of the university of Luxembourg) hires a post-doc researcher in the EXPECTATION (CHIST-ERA) project. The project involves partners from Switzerland, Turkey, Italy, and Luxembourg, and is mainly interested in developing novel XAI mechanisms. Explainable AI (XAI) has recently emerged proposing a set of techniques attempting to explain machine learning (ML) models. The recipients (explainee) are intended to be humans or other intelligent virtual entities. Transparency, trust, and debuging are the underlying features calling for XAI. However, in real-world settings, systems are distributed, data are heterogeneous, the system knowledge is bounded, and privacy concerns are subject to variable constraints. Current XAI approaches cannot cope with such requirements. One aim of this project is to address this limitation.

Your Role

• Conducting high-quality research within the EXPECTATION project
• Presentation of research findings at workshops and conferences
• Publication of scientific papers in peer-reviewed international journals
• Collaborate strongly with all consortium partners
• Write project proposals to attract funding
• Participate actively in joint EXPECTATION activities
• Teach at the university of Luxembourg

Your Profile

• Solid background in multi-agent systems, machine learning and robot programming
• Interest in HCI and interdisciplinary research
• Strong analytical capacity, creativity, and commitment
• Very good written and spoken English skills; proficiency in French or German is a plus

Our Offer

• A dynamic, well-connected international research environment
• An exceptional opportunity to be part of an innovative academia-industry partnership with access to cutting edge research facilities
• Financial support for participating in scientific activities (workshops, conferences, summer schools, etc.)
• An attractive salary and employment contract including social insurance
• The University of Luxembourg is an equal opportunity employer and applications by women are encouraged
