***Apologies for cross-posting.***

Dear colleagues,

The ESSA SIG “Using qualitative data to inform behavioural rules”<http://cfpm.org/qual2rule/> invites you to the Qual2Rule Seminars – A Series of Seminars on Experiences of Using Qualitative Data and Methods in Social Simulation!

Each seminar session will be divided in three parts. In the first part, the invited speakers will talk about their research in general. In a second part, they will go into the methodological details of using qualitative data and methods in their modelling practices. The third part will focus on stories related to the modelling process; this would be more about the personal experiences of modelling, challenges when interacting with colleagues, managing the participation of informants, publishing the research etc.

When and where? First Tuesday of each month, at 13.00 CET, via Zoom

Guest Speakers (2021):

October 5th – LeRon Shults, Agder University, Norway
November 2nd – Patrycja Antosz, NORCE Norwegian Research Centre, Norway
December 7th – Sara Mehryar, London School of Economics, UK

The objectives of this seminar series are:

·        to develop a conversation on guidelines and tools that will help modellers to integrate qualitative perspectives into their modelling research;

· to offer a space for the network to discuss their interests on agent-based modelling/social simulation and qualitative perspectives and meet other liked minded people.

Audience - everybody interested in Agent-based modelling :) Or, more specifically:

· Early career researchers with interest in learning how other colleagues deal with decision making processes when using qualitative data and methods to inform their models.

· Researchers interested in discussing the entanglement between agent-based models, relations, people, and interests in empirical (and/or theoretical) settings.

· Scholars with interest in accountability and transparency in developing agent-based models.

If you want to participate in this seminar series, please fill in this registration form by Sunday the 3rd of October: https://forms.gle/Nn5UtYNNWUW7JVaG7 .

Looking forward to seeing you first Tuesday of each month, at 13:00 CET, on Zoom!

Best regards,

Melania, Juan, and Bruce.
