---------------------------------------------------------------------
The 19th International Conference of the Italian Association for
Artificial Intelligence(AIxIA 2020) is organized by AIxIA (Associazione
Italiana per l’Intelligenza Artificiale), which is a non-profit
scientific society founded in 1988 and devoted to the promotion of
Artificial Intelligence. The society aims to increase the public
awareness of AI, encourage the teaching of it and promote research in
the field.
AIxIA 2020 will focus on the communities working on the various research
areas of the field, it will host 10 workshops whose submission deadline
is set in the late Summer. Keynotes speakers, open events, discussion
panels will complete the event. AIxIA 2020 will be virtually held on
November 25th-27th, 2020 “anywhere” in the world, rather than in a
single physical place: the event will be open to all members of the
organizing association and its program will be accessible through the
internet.
*Call for Papers*
The conference covers broadly the many aspects of theoretical and
applied Artificial Intelligence through a series of workshops dedicated
to specific topics:
- 9th Italian Workshop on Machine Learning and Data Mining (MLDM.it 2020)
- Italian Workshop on Explainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI.it 2020)
- Workshop on Evolutionary and Population-based Optimization (WEPO 2020)
- Advances In Argumentation In Artificial Intelligence (AI^3 2020)
- 8th Italian Workshop on Planning and Scheduling (IPS 2020)
- The 7th Italian Workshop on Artificial Intelligence and Robotics (AIRO
2020)
- 4th Workshop on Natural Language for Artificial Intelligence (NL4AI-2020)
- RCRA/RiCeRcA 2020
- Italian Workshop on Artificial Intelligence for an Ageing Society
(AIxAS 2020)
- AIxIA 2020 Discussion Papers workshop
We encourage all types of contributions, please, refer to the call for
papers of the single workshop for the topics.
Besides workshop papers, and following the successful edition of AIxIA
2019, we also welcome discussion papers containing descriptions of
results that have been recently published or accepted for the
presentation in international conferences. Discussion papers are
expected to be more broadly accessible, they are an opportunity for the
authors to present their recent results to the AI community, and a
valuable addition for the attendees of AIxIA 2020. Please, refer to the
call for papers of the AIxIA 2020 Discussion Papers workshop.
*Submission Instructions*
Each workshop has its own organization. Please, refer to the call for
papers of the specific workshop for details.
As a general guideline, the papers should be written in English and
formatted according to Springer’s LNCS style. Paper submission, unless
differently specified in the workshop pages, is electronic via easychair
at the address: https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=aixia2020
*Proceedings*
Generally, unless differently specified in the workshop pages, the
proceedings of each workshop will be published in the AIxIA series of
CEUR-WS by the workshop organizers.
*Post-proceedings of selected and revised papers*
Authors of selected papers, accepted to the workshops, will be invited
to submit a revised and extended version of their work to appear in a
volume, published by an important international publisher. A selection
of the best papers, accepted for the presentation at the workshops, will
be invited to submit an extended version for publication on
“intelligenza Artificiale”, the International Journal of the Italian
Association for Artificial Intelligence, edited by IOS Press and indexed
by Thomson Reuters' "Emerging Sources Citation Index" and Scopus by
Elsevier.
*Format of the video presentations*
Authors of accepted papers at the workshops will be requested to provide
a video recorded presentation of their work. Presentations will be
available to all members of the association. Videos must have a length
between 5 and 8 minutes according to the rules given by the workshop
organizers. The video should be in MP4 format (1280x720). More details
will be published here.
*Important Dates*
The schedule is the same for all workshops.
Paper submission deadline: September 20th, 2020.
Notification to authors: October 16th, 2020.
Camera ready submission: October 30th, 2020.
Video and slides of the presentation: November 10th, 2020.
*Attending*
The conference will be fully virtual.
Workshop attendance
The workshops are asynchronous. The authors' presentations will have the
form of short videos (5 - 8 minutes, according to the rules given by the
workshop organizers) broadcasted through some cloud platform or video
platform. Videos and slides of the presentations will be made available
to the participants 4 - 5 days before the events.
Nevertheless, each workshop will have a time colocation and authors'
presentations will have a schedule as usual. Each person interprets the
schedule in their own time zone. The aim of the schedule is: (i) to get
a commitment to spend time watching talks and engaging with comments;
and (ii) to create synchronisation, allowing for some discussion and
social interaction. Authors are expected to regularly monitor and
respond to questions and comments on their presented paper.
Interaction among the authors and the participants and among the
participants themselves will be achieved through a collaborative and
communicative platform by means of dedicated channels/threads for each
paper, chat rooms, or the like. The intention is to use the Slack
platform but other platforms will be evaluated. The attendees are
expected to watch the video for a talk and then feel free to post
questions and comments using Slack.
More details about the organization of each workshop are provided by
their respective organizers.
Conference events attendance
The conference's keynotes, open events, panel discussions, awards will
be synchronous. Google Meet, Microsoft Team, Zoom, or Cisco WebEx will
be exploited for broadcasting these events.
