Recent trends in multimedia networking techniques often put emphasis on
futuristic issues. The current narrative is that a vast variety of devices
would be connected for achieving specific goals by several technologies
such as big data, cloud computing, Internet-of-Things (IoT), Fog/Edge
computing, Cloud Computing, and Wireless Sensor Networks. Multimedia
Networks can also be more secure and intelligent by integrating some type
of intelligence. Existing research works have uncovered a massive amount of
threats and attacks, but they still need to uncover efficient ways to
establish Intelligent Multimedia Networks (IMNs). INs can be applied on/in
several network shapes like edge/Fog/Cloud/p2p networks and even
sensor/mesh networks to increase the performance and throughput of such
systems (i.e., Quality of services or QoS) as well as providing better
Quality of Experience (QoE) to satisfy customers experiences with the
provided services.

There are several existing works to represent the privacy and security
challenges in general cyberspace, however, this special issue (SI) focuses
on current trends to develop intelligent approaches that face privacy and
security challenges in emerging and futuristic multimedia networks. This SI
aims to provide the researchers from both industry and academia a platform
to discuss technical challenges and disseminate their recent advances
related to INs. We are looking for innovative research works and novel
findings in emerging fields in the networking area.

Potential topics include, but are not limited to the following:
- Anomaly detection in IMNs
- Privacy and Security of machine learning-based network algorithm
- QoS and security support for IMNs protocols
- IMNs support for Edge Computing
- IMNs for IoT Applications
- Deep Learning for IMNs
- Network services and applications in IMNs
- Performance evaluation of in IMNs
- Cryptographic algorithm analysis for IMNs
- Digital rights and digital forensic management in IMNs
- Security of identification, communication and authentication in IMNs
- Content provenance in IMNs
- Scheduling and routing in IMNs
- Learning and optimization algorithm in IMNs
- Network monitoring and analytical modelling in IMNs
- Scalability, reliability and performance of IMNs

and select “*SI 1157T: Intelligent Multimedia Networks*” when they reach the
“Article Type” step in the submission process.

Submitted papers should present original, unpublished work, relevant to one
of the topics of the Special Issue. All submitted papers will be evaluated
on the basis of relevance, the significance of contribution, technical
quality, scholarship, and quality of presentation, by at least three
independent reviewers. It is the policy of the journal that no submission,
or substantially overlapping submission, be published or be under review at
another journal or conference at any time during the review process.
