 The enormous use of internet in smart and connected healthcare continuously churn out very large amounts of structured and unstructured data due to which healthcare practitioners are increasingly facing difficulties in managing and capitalizing them to their advantage. Big data analytics is the process of examining these large data sets to uncover hidden patterns, unknown correlations, market trends, customer preferences and other useful business information. The analytical findings can lead to more effective marketing, new revenue opportunities, better customer service, improved operational efficiency, competitive advantages over rival organizations and other business benefits.

This workshop sponsored by IEEE/ACM CHASE 2018, focuses on bringing together researchers and practitioners in mobile computing, biomedical and machine learning to showcase the progress, algorithms, and applications of analyzing and extracting knowledge from large-scale datasets for smart and connected healthcare. We invite researchers and practitioners to submit theoretical and experimental results on topics of interest included but not limited to:

·  Store and retrieve ever growing dataset from smart and mobile devices

·  Feature dimensionality reduction for high dimensional biomedical data

·  New approach to tackle large-scale bioinformatics classification problems

·  Energy efficient data analytics scheme for high dimensional data

·  Cloud computing and mobile database management for wearable sensor based big data

·  Machine learning frameworks designed for biomedical big data mining

·  Predictive models gaining valuable knowledge from wearable sensor based big data

·  Machine learning, with emphasis on deep learning, for health and biomedical applications

·  Novel applications and case studies for healthcare based on smart and mobile devices

·  Biomedical big data privacy preservation in IoT environment

 

BIGDATA4HEALTH 2018 will establish a best paper award this year. All papers presented at the Workshop will be published in Smart Health Journal (Elsevier) as a special issue.
