CALL FOR POST-DOC APPLICATIONS – ADVANCED AI FOR SMART LIVING
We invited Brazilian researchers to apply through the open call “CNPq Pos-Doutorado no Exterior (PDE)” to work with A/Prof Michael Kirley at the School of Computing and Information Systems, The University of Melbourne.
Our research group aims to integrate Advanced Models of Computational Intelligence and Human-Centered IoT advance the state-of-the-art in Ambient Intelligence and Ubiquitous Computing. We want to explore what can be done if you integrate e.g. Machine Learning (ML), Natural Language Processing (NLP), data from sensors, appliances, user interactions, and others. This initiative will promote collaborative academia-industry research around a practical a research agenda, scientific discovery, development of core technologies, prototypes and demonstrations.
More intelligent solutions must make sense of “context” in a broader sense -- what is the environment? how to integrate information from multiple sources (e.g. sensors, appliances, voice, etc)? how is the person/group behaving? How is the context and interactions evolving? We seek solutions that are affordable, simple, resilient, run locally, self-adjust, self-adapt, and sustain inference performance overtime. The Research Fellow will research and develop advanced methods of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Ambient Intelligence and Ubiquitous Computing in practical applications like Smart Home, Smart Buildings, Smart Campus, and others.
Essential criteria are:
A PhD in Computer Science, with focus on Artificial Intelligent, or an appropriate equivalent;
Experience in one or more of the following areas: AI/ML, Human-centred IoT, ML technologies like scikit-learn, MX Net, TensorFlow, and others.
A relevant research track record as evidenced by research publications in high-quality journals, conferences and technical reports;
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral, with a demonstrated ability to convey information to and build rapport with all levels of staff within a diverse work environment;
Ability to work effectively as part of a team and communicate well with a range of personnel from both industrial and research environments;
Be eligible to apply for the call for “Pós-Doutorado no Exterior (PDE) / CNPq RN-029/2012; further information on eligibility criteria and financial support at: http://cnpq.br/bolsas-no-exterior1
Be able to relocate to Melbourne, Australia, for the duration of the program (12-18 months).
Melbourne has been ranked the most liveable city in the world. Residents of Melbourne enjoy an excellent quality of life, being in a mid-sized city in an affluent country with a lower population density. More information at: http://www.melbourne.vic.gov.au
