----- DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT -----
This project is funded by Grants-in-Aid for Scientific Research,
Japan Society for the Promotion of Science. This project will
develop a practical theory and market mechanisms for optimizing
the allocation of precious resources, by synthesizing/extending
technologies from computer science and micro economics. This project
is carried out by an interdisciplinary research team that consists of
leading Japanese researchers in computer science and micro economies.
Specific research topics include:
 * mechanism design for auction and matching
 * concise representation schemes for cooperative games
 * discrete convex analysis
 * equilibrium analysis of repeated games based on POMDP

----- REQUIREMENTS -----
The ideal candidate will have a PhD in a relevant discipline (such as
Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Operations Research, Game
Theory, Micro Economics), and established track record evident by
publication in top quality conferences and/or journals. Expertise in
one or more of the following areas is a must: multiagent systems,
algorithm, combinatorial optimization, mechanism design, game-theory,
and micro economics.

----- STARTING DATE AND DURATION -----
The starting date is September 1, 2017 (negotiable).
The position will be for an initial duration of 7 months
(until March 31, 2018), expendable for another 2 years
depending on performance and continuation.

----- SALARY AND BENEFITS -----
Gross salary per month (including, among other things, taxes, and
insurances) will be about 320,000 JPY (net salary per month will be
about 270,000 JPY)  The exact amount will be decided in accordance
with the University's employment regulations, the successful
applicant's past accomplishments, etc.

----- SUBMISSION -----
The application process will remain open until the position is filled
by a suitable candidate.
(1) Academic CV, including names and contact details of 2 referees.
(2) A 1-page "statement of interest", explaining the candidate's
interest in the project.
(3) Five "representative papers" describing the applicant's research.
If possible, please also include a link to a website with an online
version of your PhD thesis and relevant publications (e.g., your
professional homepage).

The screening process will consist of
(1) the initial application review, and
(2) skype interviews for the candidates who make it past the initial review.
