CALL FOR PAPERS
The 9th International Workshop on Collaborative Agents Research &
Development (CARE) -- CARE for the Millennium Goals
In conjunction with the 16th International Conference on Autonomous
Agents and Multiagent Systems (AAMAS2017)

** IMPORTANT DATES
Paper submission: February 7, 2017
Notification of acceptance: March 2, 2017
Camera-ready: March 17, 2017
Workshop: May 8/9, 2017
** SUMMARY
“CARE for the Millennium Goals” aims to discuss computational models,
social computing, and agent-based solutions applied to practical
solutions that address topics related to the Millennium Development
Goals. The Millennium Development Goals are eight global goals set by
the UN to reduce extreme poverty. The goals are to:
• Goal 1: Eradicate Extreme Hunger and Poverty
• Goal 2: Achieve Universal Primary Education
• Goal 3: Promote Gender Equality and Empower Women
• Goal 4: Reduce Child Mortality
• Goal 5: Improve Maternal Health
• Goal 6: Combat HIV/AIDS, Malaria and other diseases
• Goal 7: Ensure Environmental Sustainability
• Goal 8: Develop a Global Partnership for Development
This workshop will focus on these socially relevant topics and how
Collaborative Agents can contribute to achieving the Millennium Goals.
The aim is to develop a research agenda addressing the gap between R&D
development and practical applications to social issues. The
discussion will revolve around questions like: How can we create
computational models, representations, algorithms and protocols to
enable the next generation of intelligent collaborative technologies?
How to combine currently disruptive technologies to create the next
generation of solutions for challenging scenarios in social-centred
applications?
The half day event will feature a mixture of invited talks,
discussions and submitted contributions describing current work or
work in progress in collaborative agent research and technology.
We expected to conclude with a discussions around a proposed research
agenda to advance the field of collaborative technology and social
computing, to foment the development of new technologies, support new
business, and contribute to the academia-industry relationship.
** SUBMISSION AND PUBLICATION
Submission is done electronically through Easychair:
https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=care2017 <https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=care2017>
Submissions should be formatted according to LNCS specification and
submitted as a PDF file.
We seek three types of submissions:
- Full paper of 8-12 pages.
- Short paper of 4 pages, such as position and early result papers.
- Demo paper of 4 pages describing a demonstration.
Submissions will be peer-reviewed by, at least, three reviewers per
paper. Selection criteria will include relevance, significance,
impact, originality, technical soundness, and quality of presentation.
Some preference may also be given to papers which address emergent
trends or important common themes, or which enhance balance of
workshop topics.
We plan to publish selected papers through Springer, possibly as
Communications in Computer and Information Science (CCIS), as has been
the case with previous CARE workshops.
