Applications are invited for this fixed-term post (which is a 6 month project until 30/06/2016 in the first instance with the possibility of an extension for a further 3 months).

The successful applicant will work on a collaborative research and development project under the supervision of Professors Fasli (CSEE, Principal Investigator) and Sena (EBS, Co-Investigator) and in collaboration with Linguamatics. The project will explore and develop new semantic-based information extraction methods and techniques making use of ontologies that are aimed to facilitate more effective search in specialist corpora such as health and bioinformatics. The project will also investigate how user search strategies for specialist search can be captured.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience in the areas of semantic-information extraction, information retrieval and search, semantic web technologies and ontologies, and a strong programming background. Candidates should be graduates of computer science or information systems and be in possession of a good postgraduate degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence or a related area.
