Data is the gold rush for the 21st Century. Smart phones, social media, the Internet, apps, devices, sensors, smart cards, telematics and GPS are changing how we interact with the world around us and each other. Some predictions put the rate of growth of data between 2013 to 2020 at over 200% a year with an estimate that by 2020 there will be more than 16 zettabytes of useful data (16 trillion GB). The big data and analytics market is growing six times faster than the ICT market, according to the IDC.

The Essex Big Data and Analytics Summer School is being organised by the Institute for Analytics and Data Science<http://www.essex.ac.uk/iads/> (IADS) at the University of Essex UK and is open to both internal and external delegates. The summer school is for graduates, postgraduates, researchers and professionals in the emerging fields of big data, data science and analytics who would like to find out more or be updated on the current trends and developments in this exciting and fast-developing field.

Whether you are interested in the curation and management of big data, advanced techniques and methods including artificial intelligence and statistical methods, or applications of big data in fields ranging from business and finance to bioinformatics, you will find a set of relevant courses for you.

Courses
Courses are available covering a wide range of topics from multiple perspectives. They are being delivered by experts in that field, internal and external, academic and professional.
