Senior Lecturer/Reader in Machine Learning at the University of Bath

Salary Range: Senior Lecturer/Reader: £46400 to £53765 per annum

The Department of Computer Science at the University of Bath wishes to
appoint a high-calibre academic with expertise in the field of Machine
Learning and strong potential for leadership.

The Department’s research interests and strengths are structured in four 
groups: Intelligent Systems, Computer Vision & Graphics, Human-Computer 
Interaction, and Mathematical Foundations.  This appointment is part of 
a strategic process to strengthen and integrate our core research areas.

The post holder will be expected to conduct excellent Machine Learning 
research within the Intelligent Systems group, with links to Computer
Vision and potential links to elements of Human-Computer Interaction and 
Mathematical Foundations.

Candidates will normally be expected to hold a PhD, and have a
developing international reputation for high quality publications,
backed up by appropriate research funding. The successful applicant will 
be expected to obtain significant funding from appropriate national and 
international sources and to carry out and supervise research in their 
field in line with the targets set by the Department.

The post holder will be expected to contribute to teaching at
undergraduate and postgraduate levels and should therefore be able to
demonstrate a continuing commitment to maintaining the University’s high 
standards in teaching and learning, with the ability to educate and 
inspire some of the brightest students in the country.  The post holder 
will also be expected to contribute to developing the importance and 
strength of Machine Learning in the undergraduate and postgraduate
curricula.

The post holder will also be expected to contribute to the
administration, leadership and management of the department’s activities.
