THE PROJECT:
This project is funded by Grants-in-Aid for Scientific Research, Japan Society for the Promotion of Science. This project will develop the theory and mechanisms for optimizing the allocation of precious resources, by synthesizing/extending technologies from computer science and micro economics. This project is carried out by an interdisciplinary research team that consists of leading Japanese researchers in computer science and micro economies. Specific research topics include automated mechanism design, equilibrium analysis of repeated games based on POMDP, concise representation schemes for cooperative games, mechanism design for two-sided matching, combinatorial auctions, discrete convex analysis, etc.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The ideal candidate will have a PhD in a relevant discipline (such as Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Operations Research, Game Theory, Micro Economics), and established track record evident by publication in top quality conferences and/or journals. Expertise in one or more of the following areas is a must: multiagent systems, algorithm, combinatorial optimization, mechanism design, game-theory, and micro economics.
STARTING DATE: In principle, August 1, 2014
The position will be for an initial duration of 8 months, expendable for another two years depending on performance and continuation.
SALARY AND BENEFITS:
Gross salary per annum (including, among taxes, insurances and other things) will be about JPY4,300,000.
The exact amount will be decided in accordance with the University's employment regulations, the successful applicant's past accomplishments, etc.

SCREENING:
The screening process will consist of
