Applications are invited for a Research Programmer within Electronics and Computer Science at the University of Southampton. The position will be associated with the ORCHID project (http://www.orchid.ac.uk) and will seek to demonstrate prediction and optimisation algorithms within the context of disaster response and future energy systems .
The post will be based in the Agents, Interaction and Complexity research group (www.aic.ecs.soton.ac.uk) and the successful candidate will join an internationally renowned team, working with Professor Nick Jennings and Dr S.D. Gopal Ramchurn, developing and applying agent-based technologies to a range of real-world settings.
You should possess a postgraduate degree in computer science and have a strong programming background. Experience of Java and Web development is essential, and this experience should have been applied within a scientific programming context. In particular, experience developing and applying common machine learning, prediction and optimization algorithms (such a Bayesian inference, Gaussian processes and optimization toolkits such as CPLEX) will be an advantage.
