Special event on 25 years of Artificial Intelligence Research in the Benelux

AI is thriving. Its tools and techniques are now mainstream within computer science, and at the core of so many of the systems we use every day. The capacity for intelligent behavior is now a central part of people's understanding of and experience with computer technology. In practice, many systems all seem to contain elements that have roots in the past half century of research in Artificial Intelligence.

On November 8, 2013, a special event is organized @ TU Delft to celebrate 25 years of Artificial Intelligence research in the Benelux.

Please distribute this invitation widely: colleagues, (business) contacts, students, high school students, all are invited to this special event.

The event takes place from 9:00 till 12:45 and includes:
·

· A keynote by Prof. Luc Steels from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel

· A session with demonstrations and posters (and drinks): Universities from all over the Benelux will provide demonstrations of current state-of-the-art artificial intelligence research.

· A special session that highlights AI research in the Benelux: Internationally renowned researchers will give short visionary presentations about the state of the art and the history and future of Artificial Intelligence research in a number of its subdisciplines:

- Natural Language Processing: Antal van den Bosch

- Knowledge Representation and Reasoning: Frank van Harmelen

- Planning and Scheduling: Cees Witteveen

- Neural Networks: Eric Postma
