                        CALL FOR PARTICIPATION
==================================================
Half-day tutorial titled: Commitments in Software Engineering

Date (most likely): May 7, 2013

Venue: Saint Paul, Minnesota, as part of the 12th International
Conference on Agents and Multiagent Systems (AAMAS'13)
http://aamas2013.cs.umn.edu/

Presenters: Amit K. Chopra (Lancaster University) and Munindar P.
Singh (North Carolina State University)

Commitments among agents have long been established as a key
abstraction for modeling interaction in multiagent systems. Recent
work has explored the connections with broader software engineering,
including requirements engineering and software architecture. As
software engineering heads toward the development of sociotechnical
systems, it is only natural that we would wish to understand social
relationships in these systems precisely. An emerging subarea, RE and
Law, is intimately concerned with modeling norms as social
relationships. We present commitments as the leading way for
approaching the specification of sociotechnical systems succinctly and
formally. This tutorial will cover the conceptual and formal aspects
related to commitments and show the value of commitments in software
engineering, especially architecture and requirements engineering.
Parts of this tutorial have featured in graduate courses.
