We would like to draw your attention to the Applications on Fuzzy Systems in
Education - AFSE 2013 (held in conjunction with the 5th International
Conference on Computer Supported Education- CSEDU 2013), whose submission
deadline is scheduled for February 27, 2013.

Over the last few years there have been significant applications which use
fuzzy systems in nurturing professions such as education, health care and
social care which have shown to make a significant difference to people’s
everyday lives and provide measurable benefits. Due to the nature of fuzzy
systems, the transition of theoretical research into real-world applications
has enabled solutions to be found to problems in a wide variety of domains.
However, the impact of these solutions on members of society is not often
transferred back into the research community collectively. Experiences from
users on the use of such systems would enhance further improvements and
research directions in the future.

The main objective of the session is to provide a forum to disseminate and
discuss recent and significant research efforts in real-world educational
applications in fuzzy systems which have significantly benefited society. A
further objective of the session is to show how recent academic research has
been transferred into industrial and public organizational environments.
Papers should show how the public has effectively engaged with the
application and should consider the societal implications and public
attitudes, alongside others, in the conduct and use of research. New,
unusual and hybrid approaches used to create such applications are
particularly encouraged and should clearly reflect the benefit to society.
The session is therefore open to high quality submissions from researchers
who should present original research and applications including innovative
results. Such applications should utilize the following topic areas of fuzzy
systems (but are not limited to):

• Genetic Fuzzy Systems including adaptive, hierarchical, evolutionary,
neural and nature-inspired systems.

• Hybrid systems of computational intelligence techniques

• Fuzzy image, speech and signal processing, vision and multimedia

• Fuzzy control and robotics

• Fuzzy optimization and design, decision analysis and support

• Fuzzy data analysis - clustering and classifiers, pattern recognition,
bio-informatics

• Fuzzy information processing - information extraction and retrieval,
fusion, text mining

• Knowledge discovery, learning, reasoning, agents, knowledge representation

• Computing with words, fuzzy human computer interaction

• Application optimization, decision analysis, decision making,
multi-criteria decision making

• Type-2 fuzzy systems and sets.

CSEDU 2013, the International Conference on Computer Supported Education,
aims at becoming a yearly meeting place for presenting and discussing new
educational environments, best practices and case studies on innovative
technology-based learning strategies, institutional policies on computer
supported education including open and distance education, using computers.
In particular, the Web is currently a preferred medium for distance learning
and the learning practice in this context is usually referred to as
e-learning. CSEDU 2013 is expected to give an overview of the state of the
art as well as upcoming trends, and to promote discussion about the
pedagogical potential of new learning and educational technologies in the
academic and corporate world.

Submitted papers will be subject to a double-blind review process.

All papers accepted to the workshop will be published in a special section
of the conference proceedings book, under an ISBN reference, on paper and on
CD-ROM.

The proceedings will be submitted for indexation by Thomson Reuters
Conference Proceedings Citation Index (ISI), INSPEC, DBLP and EI (Elsevier
Index). All papers presented at the conference venue will be available at
the SCITEPRESS Digital Library ( <http://www.scitepress.org/DigitalLibrary/>
http://www.scitepress.org/DigitalLibrary/). SCITEPRESS is member of CrossRef
( <http://www.crossref.org/> http://www.crossref.org/).

CSEDU 2013 will be held in conjunction with WEBIST 2013 (9th International
Conference on Web Information Systems and Technologies -
http://www.webist.org/), SMARTGREENS 2013 (International Conference on Smart
Grids and Green IT Systems - <http://www.smartgreens.org/>
http://www.smartgreens.org/) and CLOSER 2013 (3rd International Conference
on Cloud Computing and Services Science - http://closer.scitevents.org/) in
Aachen, Germany.

Registration to CSEDU will enable free attendance to any sessions of WEBIST,
SMARTGREENS and CLOSER conferences as a non-speaker.
