CFP: Second International Workshop on Theory and Applications of Formal Argumentation (TAFA 2013)
Taking place in conjunction with IJCAI-13
(http://homepages.abdn.ac.uk/n.oren/pages/TAFA-13/Welcome.html)
====================================================================
The Second International Workshop on Theory and Applications of Formal Argumentation (TAFA 2013) will be co-located with IJCAI 2013 in Beijing, and builds on the success of TAFA 2011 (co-located with IJCAI 2011). The workshop is inspired by the recent rapid growth of interest in formal models of argumentation and their application in diverse domains. TAFA 2013 aims to further foster the uptake of argumentation as a viable AI paradigm with wide ranging application by providing a forum for further development of existing ideas and for the initiation of new and innovative collaborations.
TAFA 2013 therefore encourages submission of papers on formal theoretical models of argumentation, applications of argumentation, and evaluation of formal models; both theoretical (in terms of formal properties) and practical (in concretely developed applications). We particularly encourage submissions on theories and applications developed through inter-disciplinary collaborations. The workshop will also include a demonstration session.
Topics
------
The workshop solicits papers dealing with, but not limited to, the following topics:
* Properties of formal models of argumentation
* Instantiations of abstract argumentation frameworks
* Relationships amongst different argumentation frameworks
* Argumentation combined with other Artificial Intelligence techniques
* Evaluation of formal models of argumentation
* Validation and evaluation of applications of argumentation
Demonstration Track
-------------------
As well as papers in the workshop’s regular track, we encourage the submission of original full papers, or two page extended abstracts, on innovative applications. These papers and abstracts will be subject to an equally rigorous reviewing procedure as regular track papers, and will be published in the conference proceedings. Authors of accepted application papers/extended abstracts will be required to demonstrate their applications at the workshop. Systems of interest include (but are not limited to):
• Innovative applications in law, medicine, e-democracy, risk assessment, intelligent user interfaces, recommender systems
• Argumentation-based reasoners
• Systems for generating arguments from knowledge bases
• Systems for editing, presenting and judging arguments and counterarguments
• Collaborative and social systems based on argumentation
• Simulations of dialogue-based argumentation
• Argumentation-based agents and multi-agent systems
• Decision support systems based on argumentation
Submission Guidelines
---------------------
Submission to the workshop will take place via the EasyChair system (see https://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=tafa13 ), and will be anonymously reviewed. Contributors must submit papers (no longer than 15 pages) in the Springer Lecture Notes in Computer Science style. Formatting instructions, as well as style and sample files can be found here:

Post-proceedings
----------------
As with the TAFA 2011 proceedings, we plan to have accepted papers published in Springer LNAI post-proceedings.
Important Dates
---------------
April 20, 2013: Submission Deadline
May 20, 2013: Notifications of Acceptance
May 30, 2013: Camera Ready Copy Due
August 3-5, 2013: The workshop will run over one and an half days (final dates to be confirmed).
