IBM Research Brazil is seeking exceptional scientists and engineers to 
conduct basic and applied research in service systems. We invite 
candidates with an excellent research track record in any of the following 
areas: 

•Distributed systems and cloud computing 
•Data analysis and mining 
•Machine learning and computer simulation
•Operations research
•Business and organizational science
•Human-computer interaction and empirical software engineering
•Service science, design, and engineering

The Service Systems group aims at advancing the state of the art research 
on service platforms (such as, cloud and analytics platforms) and large 
people-centered systems (such as, call-centers, IT delivery centers, and 
retail operations). It is involved in the full spectrum of research in the 
industry, from the creation of science to the invention and development of 
new technologies to the building of end-to-end solutions for service 
systems. It employs multi-disciplinary approaches for examining 
computational, process, and human aspects of service systems in typically 
multiple-year efforts.

A successful candidate is expected to pursue a research career at IBM 
Research where he/she publishes regularly in top-quality journals and 
conferences, produces patents as well as other intellectual property 
assets, and contributes to projects with significant impact in IBM 
business. The candidate may be also involved in engineering those efforts 
to an advanced state of feasibility by evaluating ideas and plans and 
participating in their implementation. 

Required core competencies include a demonstrated success in research with 
a good publication track record in top conferences and journals. Good 
communication skills and an interest in solving real world problems are 
expected. Patenting experience and project management experience are 
pluses. 

Required :

Doctoral Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Design, 
Business Sciences, or Service Sciences.
Fluency in English.

Preferred:

International research experience.
Previous, demonstrated participation in multi-disciplinary research work.
