In an increasingly inter-connected world, where all things are dependent on one another, small
local perturbations can have complex effects on a global scale. This is particularly true for urban
and rural infrastructure and resources, such as water, transport or electricity.
Institutions have been designed to regulate these infrastructures and resources. Due to the
unpredictability of events the institutions need to become more adaptive, responsive and
pro-active in order to support the interplay of human and electronic decision making. This will
ultimately deliver a sustainable, smarter and protective infrastructure.
ISSPI will be of concern to anyone interested in autonomic and self-organising systems in human
and electronic institutions, organisation and enterprises, with applications to critical infrastructure.

Topics of Interest include amongst others:
- Agent-based modelling and simulation
- Computational sustainability
- SmartGrids and Autonomic Power Systems
- Green computing
- Complex systems and social networks
- User-infrastructure interface
- Collective deliberative assemblies and decision-support systems
- Policy-based computing and policy analysis
- Emergence and evolution of institutions

Organising Committee: Michael Cox, Takayuki Ito, Stephen McArthur, Julia Schaumeier
