*The* *aim* of this special issue is to reflect the most recent advances in
the field of cooperative problem solving strategies where nature plays a
key role as source of inspiration. Topics of interests include (but are not

All submissions will be peer reviewed subject to the standards of the
journal. Authors of accepted papers to NICSO 2011 are also invited to
submit their contribution for publication in this special issue.
Manuscripts based on already published NICSO 2011 papers must be extended
substantially.

Manuscripts should have approximately 20 pages and must comply with the
author guidelines of the Memetic Computing journal (
