Dear Professor Odell,
Thank you for your fast reply, I am from Saudi. So this means we are out since your are only focusing on Europe.
Best Regards,
Dr.Fatmah

Re: [agents] FIPA chair
Dear All

Here are some of the comments from the membership about the qualifications and dedication level of the nominated chairs.

**For example, Massimo's suggestion:**
"My personal opinion is that the choice of the next chair and co-chair will deeply influence the future of FIPA.
I think FIPA needs to start a new era. The first sign of that should come from the names of the leaders.

IMHO these two persons should be very renowned in their industrial/academic agent-related activity and, if possible, new to FIPA.
This would send a clear message of renovation and it would ensure the necessary authority to an organization with such an important history.

I kindly ask to all the members, if they agree with my thoughts,  to think about people who can satisfy these criteria and invite them."

**And Dominic's suggestion:"
Might I suggest that nominees be asked to put forward a coherent
statement of intent and plan of action for their tenure.

** And a few of my suggestions: **
At this point chairing will be a bit challenging.

Originally FIPA was 90% academics and 10% business.  The question now is: can we get academic teams to working groups?  For the past 8 year, several working groups formed, by then did to continue after a few months.  So, unless the new chairs have the time and energy to organize working groups (mostly in Europe) and can "push" them to deliver useful standards, it may not be successful.

Currently, it will take a lot of work to get FIPA energized.  As I mentioned above, organizing working groups is one.  Others would include updating and maintain the website; processing and reporting the membership; IEEE-required financial reporting; sending and presenting status reports to IEEE.

Anyone, then, being nominated for chair should be aware that the level of effort for the next year or so will be pretty high.

Best regards,

Jim
