Applications are invited for this post in the School of Computer Science and Electronic Engineering of the University of Essex, UK. The person appointed will work in projects in the area of agents, multi-agent systems and information retrieval with Dr Maria Fasli. There is flexibility in the exact research to be undertaken, and Dr Fasli is currently working on a range of projects in intelligent agents, multi-agent systems, information retrieval, web search assistants and decision support systems, web service discovery and composition. The postholder will work closely with research students working in related projects and assist in their day-to-day supervision; prepare reports as well as journal and conference papers describing the work that has been done; present results at technical meetings and conferences; contribute to the preparation of bids for additional competitive national and international research funding awards and industrial support and contribute to teaching.
The ideal candidate will have previous experience in the area of agents, multi-agent systems, information retrieval and a strong programming background. Candidates should be graduates of computer science or information systems and be in possession of a good postgraduate degree or equivalent experience in Artificial Intelligence. Evidence of research experience and potential are essential.

Appointment to this full-time post will be from 20th June 2011 or as soon as possible thereafter. This post is fixed-term until 31 July 2012 in the first instance (with the possibility to extend it for a further year).
