Lectureships and Professorships in Computer Science (Agents & Intelligent Systems)

Department of Informatics, School of Natural and Mathematical Sciences

King's College London

The Department of Informatics is seeking applications from candidates with an excellent research track record for up to six academic positions at all levels (Lecturer / Senior Lecturer, Professor). It is anticipated that the successful applicants will contribute to research and teaching in the area of Agents & Intelligent Systems.

An ability to help build links to other groups, for example to Robotics, or to contribute to the teaching of topics in computer security, may be deemed to be an advantage. Applications from outstanding researchers in other areas of Computer Science will also be considered, if they can contribute significantly to the development of the Department.

The Department of Informatics was formed in August 2010 from the previous Department of Computer Science, incorporating the Centre for Robotics Research and the Centre for Telecommunications Research, as part of the new School of Natural and Mathematical Sciences. These appointments are part of a strategic growth of the Department, and provide an opportunity for outstanding researchers to contribute to, and help shape the direction of, the Department in its new form.

Applicants for professorships must have an outstanding international research profile, with a strong record of attracting research funding. Applicants for lectureships must have a PhD, an excellent publication record, and the ability to attract research funding. Appointment at the level of Senior Lecturer will be possible for suitably qualified candidates. All applicants must have the enthusiasm and commitment required to enhance the research standing of the new Department, and to make a full contribution to teaching and administrative activities.

For an informal email discussion, please contact the Head of Department, Professor Michael Luck: michael.luck [at] kcl.ac.uk
