PHD POSITION IN MULTI-ROBOT SYSTEMS



The Department of Knowledge Engineering (DKE) at Maastricht University, the
Netherlands, invites applications for a full-time PhD position in
Multi-Robot Systems. The position is embedded into the “Robotics, Agents and
Interaction” Group of DKE and, within this group, into the SwarmLab (

Topics considered as particularly relevant for this position are robotics,
multiagent systems, swarm intelligence, machine learning and adaptive
coordination. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to
contribute to cutting-edge research in a highly stimulating academic
environment.

++++ REQUIREMENTS

The candidate should have a MSc degree in computer science (or a closely
related subject area) and should be well familiar with at least one of the
topics listed above. Experience with real robots (programming, building,
etc.) would be a clear advantage. We are looking for a researcher who is
enthusiastic about tackling both theoretical and practical problems in
multi-robot scenarios. The ability to cooperate and integrate in our team as
well as good written and spoken communication skills in English are
required. (Dutch language skills are not a prerequisite.) As a research
outcome we expect publications, contributions to the state of the art, and
an excellent PhD thesis.

-  PhD position for four years (full time, 38 hrs/week, yearly evaluation)
-  Gross salary ranging from Euro 2042 (1st year) to Euro 2612 (4th yr) per
month
