Postdoctoral Research Associate Position
at the University of Southern California
Coordinating Teams of Agents
Background in AI, Theoretical CS, Robot Algorithms or Related Areas
The IDM lab at the University of Southern California (idm-lab.org) focuses on
creating the algorithmic foundations for intelligent systems that have to
operate in large, nondeterministic, non-stationary or only partially known
domains. Our research centers around planning techniques that enable single
situated agents (such as robots or decision-support systems) and teams of
agents to act intelligently in their environments and exhibit goal-directed
behavior in real-time.
We have an opening for a post-doctoral research associate starting in
September/October 2010. The research will focus on algorithms for coordinating
teams of agents. We are interested in a variety of deliberative coordination
methods, including those that involve market-based mechanisms, distributed
constraint optimization and/or search. The background of the applicant could
be in artificial intelligence, theoretical computer science, robot algorithms
or related areas. Strong algorithmic/mathematical skills, the ability to work
in teams with researchers from robotics and operations research and a strong
publication record are important. The position can be filled immediately.
Interested applicants should email their curriculum vitae to Sven Koenig
(skoenig at usc.edu).
