The Department of Knowledge Engineering at Maastricht University, the
Netherlands, invites applications for a full-time PostDoc position in
multiagent technology. Among the topics considered as particularly relevant
for this position are multiagent learning, agent- based simulation,
automated negotiation and argumentation, mechanism design, and evolutionary
game theory. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to
contribute to cutting-edge research and to teaching (in English) in a highly
stimulating academic environment.
Requirements
Ph.D. in Computer Science or a closely related subject area (completed or
nearly completed). Demonstrated research excellence in multiagent technology
and preferably in at least one of above mentioned topics of particular
relevance. Interest in both theory and real-world applications. Team
orientation and willingness to take a leading role in research. Developed
ability to contribute to teaching at the bachelor and master levels.
Experience in research funding acquisition is also appreciated.
Conditions of employment
The position is initially offered for a two-year period and, subject to
mutual agreement, can then be extended by another two years. Salary is
competitive, depending on qualifications and work experience, and ranges
from EUR 2379 to EUR 4374 per month for a full-time job (38 hours/week). On
top of this, there is an 8% holiday and an 8.3% year-end allowance.
Non-Dutch applicants could be eligible for a favorable tax treatment (30%
rule).

Department of Knowledge Engineering (DKE)
Founded in 1992 as part of the Faculty of Humanities and Sciences, today DKE

broadly covers Knowledge Engineering in research and teaching. DKE comprises
three internationally respected research groups, having their foci on
"Robotics, Agents and Interaction", "Networks and Strategic Optimization",
and "Biomathematics and -informatics". Education programs currently offered
by DKE are Knowledge Engineering (Bachelor), Artificial Intelligence and
Operations Research (both Master). DKE has been top-ranked in Keuzegids
Hoger Onderwijs (2009). With respect to both research and teaching DKE is
engaged in various national and international cooperations.
