The Laboratory of Informatics Paris Descartes (LIPADE) at Paris Descartes University (France) opens a postdoctoral position in the context of the Ambient Assisted Living (AAL) Joint Programme - HERA project (Home sERvices for specialised elderly Assisted living) with a duration of 18 months and monthly gross salary around 3000€ . The candidate will become a member of the Distributed Artificial Intelligence (DAI) Group led by Pavlos Moraitis.

HERA is a two years project aiming to provide a platform with cost-effective specialized assisted living services for the elderly people mainly suffering from mild Alzheimer with identified risk factors, which will significantly improve the quality of their home life, extend its duration and at the same time reinforce social networking.

HERA will provide three main categories of services:

a) Cognitive and physical reinforcement services: These services will be a supplement of non-drug therapeutical interventions provided to the patient by specialized Alzheimer care center. 
b) Patient specific home care services: This service category will include social reinforcement services, reality orientation support services and services capable to monitor several Alzheimer related risk factors.
c) General home care services for elderly: This service category will include medication reminder services, information services as well as alarm services in cases of abnormal health conditions.

The appointee will work in the design and development of the multi-agent system (MAS) that will aid the users by exhibiting proactive behavior using the above mentioned services. The MAS will be composed by a set of specialist agents for different types of chronic conditions. Thus, in the case that a person has more than one chronic conditions or risk factors, they will have to deliberate on the course of action for any given situation. Moreover, agents will be able to adapt their decisions to dynamically changing and evolving contexts. These goals will be achieved using argumentation.

The candidate should:

- hold a PhD in agent technology.
- have excellent knowledge of the English language.

Demonstrated experience in the following technologies will be considered an advantage:

- argumentation technology
- Java
- Prolog
- Java Agent DEvelopment framework (JADE)
- web services
- service oriented architecture (SOA)
