Dear Colleague,

We are pleased to announce the Inaugural Issue of JAISE, the pioneering
Journal on Ambient Intelligence (AmI) and Smart Environments (SmE).

This new journal is an open forum to discuss the latest developments on AmI
and SmE. Given the multi-disciplinary nature of the areas involved, the
journal aims to promote participation from several different communities
covering topics ranging from enabling technologies such as vision and
multimodal sensing, to algorithmic aspects in interpretive and reasoning
domains, to application-oriented efforts in human-centred services, as well
as contributions from the fields of robotics, networking, HCI, mobile,
collaborative and pervasive computing.

The Inaugural Issue has been compiled to provide surveys on the state of the
art for various key topics in the area. The articles in this issue have been
contributed by leading researchers who have helped to shape the field since
its inception. These contributions critically analyze developments in
different areas and highlight the challenges ahead.

You can see the content of the first issue on:

The scheduled content for the first volume will be completed as follows:
Issue 2 (April 2009) Thematic Issue: Wearable Sensors
Issue 3 (July 2009) Thematic issue: Contribution of Artificial
Intelligence to AmI
Issue 4 (October 2009): Regular Issue

Kind regards
Hamid Aghajan and Juan C. Augusto
