£34,435 - £43,622 per annum

Applications are invited for a Research Councils UK Academic Fellowship (Roberts Fellowship) in the Intelligence, Agents, Multimedia (IAM) research group, in the School of Electronics and Computer Science (www.ecs.soton.ac.uk). This Fellowship will be for three years and then, subject to satisfactory performance, will be turned into a *permanent academic post*. The School is the most successful and largest of its kind in the UK, and has internationally acknowledged research excellence in both Electronics and Computer Science (receiving top grades for both areas in the last Research Assessment Exercise).

The fellow will be based in the internationally-renowned agent-based computing group (http://www.iam.ecs.soton.ac.uk/) and will contribute to the ongoing theoretical and applied research being undertaken therein. We particularly encourage applications from candidates who have a research track record in the areas of algorithmic game theory, computational mechanism design, auctions, automated negotiation, coalitions and/or multi-agent systems. We are especially interested in individuals who have researched into the foundational theories of these areas, and who are keen to apply these results in a range of real-world problems.

A proven interdisciplinary research track record spanning theoretical computer science, game theory and multi-agent systems is required. Additionally an excellent publication record and be willingness to work in a highly collaborative environment are both essential.

Informal enquiries should be addressed to Professor Nick Jennings, Tel: +44 (0)23 8059 7681, e-mail: nrj at ecs.soton.ac.uk.

The closing date for complete applications is 27 February 2009 at midday. Please quote reference number 3109-09-E on all correspondence.
